Tether draws onAfroFuturistimaginationand the cultural practice of doubleDutch driven by Black girls' creativity and aspiration. Fallow reflects the urgency and adaptabilityrequiredto navigate constant uncertainty, while Summon. Sow. Reap contemplates the outcomes of collective labor-both just and unjust-through reflection and renewal. This richly layered performance is brought to life by a cast of Dance at Illinois alumni and an accomplished team of collaborators, blending choreography, music, visual art, and design into a dynamic sensory experience.
