DoctoberFest, a new event from The Chambana Film Society, will be featuring over a dozen documentary screenings throughout the month, mostly high profile theatrical releases that did not play in the CU area. Most of them have played at world-class film festivals like Sundance, SXSW, and Tribeca.
Faced with budget limitations for traditional documentary financing, filmmaker Sean Cisterna taps into a government funding subsidy aimed at keeping senior citizens active. He visits various retirement homes to recruit a spirited, largely inexperienced cast and crew of older adults—many of whom do not even like or watch horror movies. Fantastic Fest 2026.
