Indigenous Peoples' Day will begin with a Recognition of Place and Welcome offered by University leaders. Champaign Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen and Urbana Mayor DeShawn Williams will then read an Indigenous Peoples' Day proclamation recognizing the enduring presence, histories, and contributions of Indigenous peoples.
