Join Krannert Art Museum for Research-Creation and the Alchemical Studio: An Experiment in Studious Drift, a talk by Dr. Tyson E. Lewis, Professor Art Education at the University of North Texas. His presentation creates a dialectical image in which the ancient practice of alchemy is juxtaposed next to the contemporary practice of research-creation. The mediation point between the two is the unusual space-time of the studio, which embodies an underlying drift in bodies, gestures, materials, and ideas that unites alchemical experimentation and research-creation. Dr. Lewis will highlight the importance of this convergence for interrupting and suspending dominant notions of learning prevalent in today's schools and universities.
