For the first time, they are opening the historic village up for a safe, family-friendly trick-or-treating event!
Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site is proud to host the "Community Candy Crawl" on Friday, October 30th from 4PM to 6PM. Community groups, local businesses, and volunteers have been invited to decorate and come hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. There will be candy, free hot chocolate, and they will light up the lanterns in the village one last time in 2026. Mark your calendars and bring the family for a night of fun!
Railsplitter Gifts and Eatery will also remain open until 7PM on October 30th as well. You can even make the kids eat dinner before they fill up on candy!
If you are a local organization or business that would like to participate in this new event, please reach out to Trevor Thompson at Trevor.Thompson@illinois.gov. Community groups are welcome to decorate a porch/doorway in the historic village.
