Featuring the original songs of singer and guitarist Professor Jay Rosenstein alongside a group of veteran C-U musicians including bassist John Tubbs, Woke Mountain Boys deliver rich, cinematic storytelling rooted in the spirit of the Midwest.
Their debut release, Afraid of Leaving Home, earned Top Ten Album of 2024 honors from Illinois Entertainer Magazine, which compared their sound to the legacy of beloved Illinois songwriters Steve Goodman and John Prine — warm, honest and deeply resonant.
Americana Happy Hour, 5-7pm, every Thursday at The Rose Bowl Tavern. Great music, great drink specials, no cover, no frills. Tips for the bands always appreciated.
